Cheers
I think that cheers play a very important part in a softball game. We mostly use them when our team is up at bat. They encourage the batter to get into "game mode" and really want to hurt the ball. It gets the batter rallied up.
My favorite cheers are:
"uh oh (team repeats-tr) oh no (tr) to the trees (tr) one three (tr)."
"Leader: My name is ____
Team: Rock the boat
Leader: I'm feelin' fine,
Team: Rock the boat
Leader: You mess with me,
Team: Rock the boat
Leader: I'll blow your mind,
Team: Rock the boat
All together: I said a bang bang cho-cho train wind me up and I'll do my thing, I know karate I know Kung Fu you mess with me I'll mess with you!"
I remember the time when my team made up a cheer that went like this ... "be the turkey, be-be the turkey, be the turkey, be-be the turkey gobble gobble gobble gobble." We made up this cheer because the field we were at had a lot of turkey noises in the distance. But sometimes cheers take a turn on you. The umpire gave us a warning on that cheer because he thought we were insulting the pitcher. Actually we were telling the batter to reach in and find their inner turkey. We were all mad at the call the ump. made, but no one said anything. We didn't want to get kicked out of the game.
